I’m home and comfy all tucked into bed. Bliss I tell ya. The night has been filled with great talks, fun walks, and clean socks. In short it’s been wonderful! Hugging Caroline and Adam filled me with so much love I could burst! And playing with Walter calms me so much that I know his wee spirit is connected to mine. These are the feelings in life I want to have. Clearly Homewood U has been doing a pretty good job so far.
It’s remarkable what ten days at HU has done for me. AB says she can see transformations in me already. Actually, her exact words were, “Your hair looks great, your eyes don’t look sunken in, you don’t look like a waif, and you may have gained one whole pound.” Love you AB! But on a serious note, it’s true! I feel great not only physically, but mentally and emotionally too. I’m on the right track and it feels…refreshing. I’m very use to the routine now which helps calm my brain. It’s funny, I use to hate getting woken up at 06:30 to do stretches in the gym sans caffeine and go for a winter walk. Like who goes for winter walks? But now I love it! My day doesn’t feel right if I don’t make a fool out of myself ‘dancing’ in the gym and huffing my ass back to the building in last place. I have little legs…they can only go so fast!
News Flash: Everyone at HU has an annoying cough. ‘Tis the season. But there’s an even BIGGER epidemic spreading through the halls of the building as of late. People seem to have caught a serious case of …knitting! You heard me correctly. At any given time, in any given room, you can find people hovered over a ball of yarn, creating toasty warm masterpieces. This is what our addiction-free lives have come to…lol. You see, once you take away the one thing that occupied most of the hours of our day (i.e. drinking), you end up having a lot of free time on your hands. So we in-turn play a lot of dominoes, volleyball, badminton…and we knit! I’m not going to lie, watching a tattoo-clad, hard-exterior guy, learn how to ‘pearl 1- knit 2’ is pretty endearing.
Being that I haven’t taken up knitting quite yet, I do find myself reading a lot. And one of the latest books I’ve read is ‘The Four Agreements’ by Don Miguel Ruiz. It’s pretty awesome. I wanted to share a couple excerpts from it that resonated with me.
“Humans punish themselves endlessly for not being who they believe they should be.”
“How much you love yourself and how you feel about yourself are directly proportionate to the quality and integrity of your word.”
“We make all sorts of assumptions because we don’t have the courage to ask questions.”
“We are addicted to being the way we are. We are addicted to anger, jealousy, and self-pity. We are addicted to the beliefs that tell us, “I’m not good enough”, I’m not intelligent enough”. We are addicted to asking ourselves, “Why even try?”
I hope you like them too!
Well that’s it for tonight. I’m ready to have a great sleep in my own bed with Adam snoring beside me.
Good night everyone. Sleep tight.
